How To Remove Your Resistance

Are you good at managing your time? Me? No! I’m really poor at managing my time. I’m sure I’m wasting a lot of time a day, and I just hate it.
I have several guilty pleasures that relate to my reference. For instance; the Internet surfing is a big problem for me. I love sitting in front of my PC and checking out the Social Network Service like Facebook, blogs, YouTube or whatever. After doing this, I always regret what I did.

So, trying not to spend wasting time on my PC, I switched a comfortable chair to uncomfortable chair. Now, I’m sitting on the uncomfortable chair to write this blog entry. It’s too uncomfortable, and I don’t want to sit for a long time. This chair is really working out for me.

Next, I organized my painting desk to focus on painting. When my desk was messy, I always lost feeling that I want to paint. That’s because before painting, I had to clean up my desk fast. It was a pain for me, and I always thought “OK, I can start painting tomorrow.” The thought; “I can do this tomorrow” never happens to me. Now, when I look at my organized painting desk, it makes my motivation up for painting.

Next year I want to have my own exhibition in Japan. So, I want to paint a lot of new pieces for my exhibition.

I’ve found that eliminating excuses helps a lot. For instance, I have been trying to start running in the morning. But every time I would have gone, I had an excuse. It’s dangerous because people can’t see me. I don’t have enough good socks. Etc, etc. I’ve finally removed all those excuses, and now the only one left is: It’s tough. Well it’s not going to get easier without doing it, so that excuse doesn’t work. Lately, I’ve been running about every third day, so I think removing my excuses worked. 🙂

Now I just need to do that with all the other things I should be doing. 🙂

Well, Yummi, it sounds like you are off to a good start. It is very difficult to be self disciplined, but I think if we try to make a habit of something we are trying to accomplish, it does help. Soon, that thing will be a “norm”. as artists we need to be able to give ourselves permission to be a little messy, then every once in awhile go through and clean our area. I have the same feelings you do about wanting my area to be organized, but I get a few paintings done, then go through and put away again. Good luck on you exhibition for next year, and can not wait to see your beautiful paintings. Joanna
ps I also think it helps to plan a group of paintings, so that your thoughts are on those and it make me more motivated.

      Hi, Joanna.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! I’m so happy 🙂

It’s really tough for me to becoming a professional artist. I’m still stuck on an amateur artist, sigh……….

Your comment makes me sense. I think I have to set a golf, task, norm or whatever, and have to do for it.

I’m painting for the IPAT show now, and it’s a good motivation for me. Attending a show is good, and I want to do it more from now on.

Anyway, thank you for the nice advise!

The same happens to me, when I try to get fit I always find and excuse: it is raining, I am tired, I am not feeling good…

      Hi, Marisol!

Loooooooooooooooooong time no talk! How have you been??? I’m glad that you visited my blog again!
Thanks for the comment. I understand your feelings very well!

Now my excuse is that it’s HOT! We have crazy summer in Japan right now. The heat kills me and makes me feel very tired. Today I painted while listening to some Christmas music, lol. It was good for me to make myself feel cool, lol
